Should You Compete in Tournaments or in Fighting?

Should you compete in Martial Arts? This is really a personal decision and for some people I think it is really important for their own personal growth in either Jiu-Jitsu, MMA, or Muay Thai to compete. Then there are others that are the exact opposite and will never compete and will become world class and in the gym instead.

My opinion about whether or not people should compete is “If you think that you would benefit from competing then yes you should definitely compete. But if you’re the type of person that doesn’t feel the need to compete then you definitely shouldn’t”. You can get really good and never compete in Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai or MMA. There’s are guys I know personally, that are great at Jiu Jitsu, and great MMA fighters but they just have never fought simply because sometimes they don’t want too.
