Origin of Muay Thai

Muay Thai is also known as Thai kickboxing or Southeast Asian kickboxing and MMA experts also prefer to call it as ‘the art of eight limbs.’ This is a specific technique that allows you to use both of your hands, feet, elbows, and knees to defend yourself against your enemies and to use them as a weapon to defeat your adversaries.

Muay Thai is an ancient martial art form that has been practiced in the Southeast Asian countries for more than thousand years.

This game is said to be originated in Thailand and hence, the government of Thailand has declared it as the national sport of the country. However, many other Southeast Asian countries do not agree that this combative style was originated in Thailand and hence, they prefer to mention it as Southeast Asian kickboxing style. The techniques of Muay Thai resemble with those of Chinese and Indian martial arts styles. In past, people used horse hairs and hemp ropes to safeguard their hands while fighting against their enemies through Muay Thai techniques. Those hand guards made of horse hairs and hemp ropes also helped combatants to effectively defeat and kill their enemies.

Gradually, this form of martial arts was converted into a friendly combative sport and instead of using traditional gears; Muay Thai practitioners started using modern gears like hand bag gloves, kicking pads, shin guards and many others.
