The 2011 International Masters and Rio Open Jiu-Jitsu/BJJ Tournament was great.
Sitting back on the beach reflecting on how everyone did and how great of a time we had while here in Brazil. Everyone did crazy well for taking such a small group with us to Brazil! Jeff Sue and Randy won there divisions and Jeff and Randy won there open divisions. I gave Randy and Jeff there BJJ Black belts on the podium and Sue her BJJ Brown. Next year we need to plan on coming back, bring a huge BJJ Team to compete and represent. Going to the tournament is only a small part of the fun. If you are interested in competing let me know now so we can start training hard for the BJJ Tournment now.
Being in Brazil, the place that our style of BJJ started, there is something special about it. It had been 11 years since I was here and I couldn't believe the difference in Rio in that time. It is cleaner, safer, and just all in all a different experience then the last time I was here in 2000. So interesting! I had read that Brazil was having a economic boom but I never expected it to be anything like this. It seems like yesterday I was here for the mundials as a BJJ purple belt. Great trip congrats to everyone that competed and I am excited to head home Monday see my family and train BJJ.
